Diversity & Inclusion
ALL Are Welcome
The Jackson YMCA is a nonprofit 501c3 charity-driven organization. Its mission is to put “Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy Spirit, Mind, and Body FOR ALL.” YMCA members, staff, and volunteers from every walk of life work together to strengthen our community through our three primary areas of impact: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
For the past 128 years, the Jackson YMCA has been committed to ensuring everyone can achieve optimal physical, mental, and spiritual health. The Y provides all people with opportunities for engagement regardless of their dimensions of diversity (age, gender/gender identity, physical/mental ability, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, educational background, geographic location, or income level).
The YMCA has a financial assistance policy stating that no one will be turned away from YMCA programs and services due to a proven inability to pay full price. Financial assistance is possible through gifts to our annual Strong Kids Strong Communities campaign; 100 percent of the funds raised are distributed to the community in the form of assistance.
Additionally, the YMCA is committed to improving access to the facility, membership, and programs by making reasonable accommodations for our members when possible. The YMCA allows the use of service dogs and mobility assistance equipment, and caregivers are always welcome to participate in activities with those who require assistance.
EVERYONE who demonstrates the core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility will receive equal treatment and access to the Jackson YMCA. If you have specific questions related to access, inclusion, and diversity, please make an appointment to speak with a member of our management team.
Ephesians 4:1-3: Lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
